Lymphatic transport of bile acids in man.
The possibility of a lymphatic transport of bile acids in man was investigated. Four patients were studied 2-4 weeks after renal transplantation. As a part of the postoperative immunosuppressive treatment they all had a thoracic duct fistula for lymphatic drainage. After a standardized meal, lymph and peripheral blood samples were simultaneously collected at 30-minute intervals for 210 minutes....
متن کاملIdentification of bile acids in the serum and urine in cholestasis. Evidence for 6alpha-hydroxylation of bile acids in man.
In this qualitative study of the pattern of bile acid excretion in cholestasis, methods are described for the isolation of bile acids from large volumes of urine and plasma. The bile acids were subjected to a group separation and identified by combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The techniques were developed to allow identification of the minor components of the bile acid mixture. Fo...
متن کاملAbsorption of bile acids from the large bowel in man.
The absorption of bile acids from the human large bowel was studied in eight patients. All patients had cholecystitis and cholelithiasis and had to undergo cholecystectomy. Cholic acid-(14)C was injected during surgery into the lumen of the cecum, hepatic flexure of the colon, or transverse colon in six patients, under the visual control of the surgeon. Common duct bile was collected by T tube ...
متن کاملDiurnal changes in serum unconjugated bile acids in normal man.
Unconjugated bile acids were measured using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in the serum of two subjects throughout a 24 hour period and in two other subjects over a six hour period after breakfast. Unconjugated bile acids were found in all samples of serum and included cholic, chenodeoxycholic, deoxycholic, 3 beta, 7 alpha-dihydroxy-5 beta-cholanic (iso-chenodeoxycholic), ursodeoxycholic,...
